The Inyo County Board of Supervisors will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2002 to discuss a resolution regarding new Wilderness designation in Inyo County and to listen to Planning Department staff recommendations regarding what action or actions the Board should take. Public comment is welcome and will presumably be taken into account in adopting or rejecting the resolution.
According to the Board agenda, the resolution will "articulat[e] issues and concerns that must be addressed in any consideration of Congressional legislation expanding the Wild[er]ness System on Inyo National Forest and Bureau of Land Management lands managed by the Bishop Field Office in Inyo County and direct Staff to actively represent the County’s issues and concerns throughout the legislative process."
If you cannot attend the meeting, but would like to express your views about the Citizens' Wilderness Proposals (which include the Owens River Headwaters Area) or about Wilderness in general, please write the Inyo County Board of Supervisors at P.O. Drawer N, Independence, CA 93526. Or, if you prefer, Ceal will hand deliver your letter if you e-mail it to her by Tuesday morning (her address is listed on the current OVC mailing list).
